Renewable Power in Your Community
For those entities that wish to own utility-scale wind, solar, or battery storage facilities, Saturn Power Inc. can creatively structure a partnership that keeps upfront capital investment reasonable, maximizes returns to the local community and reduces project risks. Many jurisdictions are now encouraging community-owned renewable power projects and Saturn Power can help your municipality, university, utility, or co-operative, to enter this exciting market.
Example of Community Group Structure
The Town of Blind River in Ontario, Canada, was awarded several Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) for a portfolio of solar PV projects. However, arranging finance and hiring an Engineer-Procure-Construct (EPC) contractor was not appealing to the municipality. Saturn joined the project as a minority interest partner, facilitated financing, and became the EPC contractor for the projects. This reduced the upfront capital required for the Town and resulted in higher than anticipated returns.
Strategic Partnership Structure
Saturn has used this model to strategically partner with Private Landowners, First Nations and Governments to ensure that the upfront capital and investment returns are “right-sized” for the Community Group.

Capital Structure Example - 1MW
EPC Cost $1 Million per MW (agreed by both parties and locked by Saturn – cost will vary dependent on size of project and conditions)
Financing at 75% (% dependent on PPA structure)
Equity Capital required $250k
Community Partner (51% owner can be any amount) - $125k
Saturn (49% or remaining ownership stake) - $125k
Revenue – based on 1350 kWh/kW price of power on a 20 year CPI escalating contract would be $97.5/MWh without further incentive or $76.8/MWh with ITC
Saturn can offer further financing for the Community Partner Shareholder to right size investment if necessary.
